Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Officers mentioned they were alerted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Officers state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then located many other marked automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say preliminary tests indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the community for details.

A high-ranking official stated the vandalism rendered him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a assailant focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
